Position Summary
The Accountant is responsible for the Securiport Tanzania’s day-to-day accounting activities, maintain accurate financial records, support financial reporting, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory obligations, company policies, and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Record daily transactions in the accounting system.
- Maintain the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Prepare and process journals, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Process supplier invoices and payment documentation.
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Maintain proper documentation for payments and receipts.
- Assist in preparing periodic reports and annual financial statements.
- Provide supporting schedules and information for management and auditors.
- Assist in preparation of tax computations and statutory returns.
- Maintain appropriate tax records and supporting documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in a structured corporate environment.
- CPA qualification is an advantage.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or similar systems.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, taxation, and internal controls.
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
