About Monitech Africa:
Monitech Africa is a digital media and technology platform committed to delivering timely, accurate, original, and relevant news and information to audiences in Tanzania and across Africa. As we strengthen and expand our editorial operations, we are looking for two experienced and highly motivated journalists to join our newsroom.
Qualifications:
– Above-average fluency in written and spoken English.
– University degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related field; OR degree in another field with a Diploma in Journalism.
– At least 3 years of professional media experience.
– Demonstrated ability to write accurate, balanced, original, and well-researched news stories.
– Strong interviewing, research, fact-checking, and verification skills.
– Computer literate and comfortable with digital publishing platforms.
– Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
– Additional training in journalism, digital media, broadcasting, or communication is an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
– Research, write, edit, and produce original news stories, features, interviews, and special reports.
– Produce multimedia content (text, photos, audio, video) for Monitech Africa platforms.
– Cover breaking news and key developments in Tanzania and across Africa.
– Work closely with the News Desk to identify and develop strong story ideas.
– Update the News Editor regularly on developing stories.
– Conduct interviews and verify information using credible sources.
– Build and maintain a strong network of contacts across sectors.
– Identify opportunities for exclusive and investigative reporting.
– Ensure all published content complies with editorial standards, copyright, ethics, and media laws.
